We are pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has appointed Jim McPherson as our new Executive Director. In this role Jim will further develop and carry out our strategic plan, policies, and goals – all in support of our mission.
Jim recently left Waters Corporation after a successful 31-year career where he held several senior level leadership positions. As a former Senior Director there, he brings with him extensive executive leadership experience both domestically and internationally. In addition to his outside experience, he has been involved as a volunteer at Community Harvest Project for over 7 years helping to support our Harvest Home Festival each fall.
In accepting the position Jim said “It is a privilege to join the Community Harvest Project team. CHP is a great organization with a focused mission, a dedicated staff, and enthusiastic volunteers. I am looking forward to working with the team to build on the success of this unique model.”
Jim joins us at a critical time in our season, right as harvesting has begun and our 20 partners begin receiving their regular produce distributions.
To date over 12,000 pounds of fresh produce, including asparagus, lettuce, summer squash, zucchini, kale, onions, and peas have been donated, which represent over 50,000 servings. Over the next few months more than 200,000 pounds of produce will be distributed to our neighbors experiencing hunger, who are also those hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic and we will need help harvesting all 200,000 pounds.
